Description

Vikalira | Ealaín & Neuroaesthetic Lab is a practice-based research and creative
production initiative working at the intersection of visual art, digital media, and
neuroaesthetics. The lab develops projects that explore how aesthetic experience shapes
cognition, memory, and emotional resilience, particularly within contexts of cultural
recovery. The activity is structured around three core strands:
1. Digital Media & Neuroaesthetic Content
The lab produces authorial video works and digital art grounded in neuroaesthetic
principles. These works are designed to engage perceptual and emotional processes,
supporting psychological well-being, memory preservation, and the articulation of
cultural identity. A key focus is the Ukrainian–Irish context, approached through visual
storytelling, archival material, and poetic narrative formats for platforms such as
YouTube.
2. Educational Programming
The project develops educational content that brings together artistic methodologies and
critical perspectives on human rights and social justice. It encompasses digital learning
materials, narrative frameworks, and visual essays that transform complex social issues
into accessible, experience-based forms of knowledge.
At its core, this approach highlights the value of artistic practices—such as storytelling,
visual arts, and participatory formats—in nurturing emotional resilience, strengthening
social inclusion, and enabling personal expression. By engaging individuals in creative
processes, it creates inclusive and accessible pathways to care that extend beyond
traditional medical models.
Through collaborative and community-based initiatives, creative health practices foster
meaningful dialogue, build stronger social connections, and empower individuals to
actively shape and sustain their own wellbeing.
3. Creative Facilitation & Workshops
The lab delivers participatory workshops and seminars for schools, NGOs, and
community organisations. These sessions employ art-based methods as tools for
reflection, resilience-building, and intercultural dialogue, with particular sensitivity to
communities affected by conflict, migration, or social fragmentation.Vikalira operates as
a hybrid space between art practice, education, and research. By integrating media
production with an understanding of aesthetic perception, the lab generates culturally
responsive work that contributes to social cohesion, supports processes of emotional
recovery, and fosters meaningful intercultural dialogue within Irish and international
contexts.
4. Specialized podcasts on neuroaesthetics across Spotify and YouTube.
The project will leverage multimodal content distribution by integrating both musical
compositions and specialized podcasts on neuroaesthetics across Spotify and YouTube.
This dual approach positions the platform as a comprehensive scientific and educational
ecosystem, aligning with the strategic priorities of international health and cultural
frameworks, such as the WHO Arts and Health programs.
