Khrystyna Kvyk is a contemporary artist whose practice is rooted in the tradition of sacred art, while simultaneously engaging with its reinterpretation through a modern visual language. Her work explores biblical texts and Eastern Christian iconography, examining their relevance in the contemporary spiritual and existential context. She draws inspiration primarily from Byzantine and Ukrainian medieval iconography, which form the conceptual and visual foundation of her practice. Alongside these traditions, she integrates contemporary artistic strategies, combining classical icon painting principles with expressive stylization, geometric structures, and diverse material textures. Through this synthesis, she seeks to create a dialogue between tradition and modernity, inviting viewers into reflection on faith, perception, and the sacred in today’s world. Khrystyna Kvyk actively participates in international iconography symposiums and plein air residencies, including events in Novytsia (Poland) and Zamlynnia (Ukraine). In 2023, she was a scholarship recipient of the “Gaude Polonia” program awarded by the Polish Ministry of Culture. Her work has been recognized in international competitions. In 2018, she received the First Prize in the “New Epiphany of Beauty” competition at the Museum of Icons in Supraśl (Poland), followed by the Second Prize in the same competition in 2019. Her works have been included in the museum’s collection.
